The epigraphic studies are increasingly gaining ground in the European academic ambient of analyzes about the Middle Ages, thus attracting the attention of young researchers interested in a cultural approach of the history of the Middle Ages. The present article discusses this ongoing trend, with special attention to the analyzes of the medieval inscriptions in the Iberian Peninsula

Os estudos epigráficos cada vez mais ganham espaço no ambiente acadêmico europeu de análises sobre o medievo, atraindo assim a atenção de jovens pesquisadores interessados numa abordagem cultural da história da Idade Média. O presente artigo debate essa tendência em curso, com especial atenção às análises sobre as inscrições medievais no espaço da Península ibérica.
