    Illegitimate Children The interview presented here constitutes the first part of the long account in which Zahoua, an Algerian University student in her third year, recalls, both for herself and for the reader, the life of her family since its emigration to France in 1954. The interview is prefaced by a brief summary of the circumstances surrounding her family's emigration, and of the social characteristics peculiar to each member of the family, which serve to define the station assigned to them in the family structure as well as the prospects opened up for them by emigration. In the next issue, we will publish the conclusion of this account and attempt to isolate its most significant implications.

    Les enfants illégitimes L'entretien présenté ici constitue la première partie de la longue relation où Zahoua, étudiante algérienne en 3ème année d'études universitaires, évoque, à la fois pour elle-même et pour notre information, la vie de sa famille émigrée en France depuis 1954. On a fait précéder l'entretien d'un bref résumé des circonstances de l'émigration de la famille, et des caractéristiques sociales propres à chacun des membres de la famille qui définissent les positions qui leur sont assignées dans la structure familiale ainsi que les trajectoires qui leur sont offertes dans l'émigration. Dans le prochain numéro, on publiera la fin de cette narration et on essaiera d'en dégager les implications les plus importantes.

    Die illegitimen Kinder Das hier vorgestellte Gespräch bildet den ersten Teil eines längeren Berichts, worin Zahoua, eine algerische Studentin im 6 Semester, ebenso für sich wie zu unserer Information das Leben ihrer 1954 nach Frankreich emigrierten Familie erzählt. Dem Gespräch vorangestellt wurde eine kurze Zusammenfassung der Umstände der Emigration sowie der sozialen Merkmale der einzelnen Familienmitglieder, die deren Stellung innerhalb der Familie wie auch den jeweiligen Werdegang in der Emigration bestimmen. In der nächsten Nummer diesef Zeitschrift soll der Schluss des Berichts veröffentlicht und dariiberhinaus versucht werden, die sich daraus ergebenden wichtigsten Implikationen herauszuschälen.
