Resumen de Cambio climático en España y sus consecuencias (segunda parte)

Tras una primera parte publicada en la ROP nº 3574, en la que se realizaba una breve síntesis de lo que significaba el Acuerdo de la COP21 de Cambio Climático, en este artículo se hace una primera referencia a los nuevos acontecimientos internacionales acaecidos desde la redacción del mismo, y se sintetizan los principales efectos previsibles para este país del calentamiento global, con su incidencia sobre incendios y sequías, sobre inundaciones y olas de calor; sobre cambios en la vulnerabilidad territorial, en los ecosistemas, en la biodiversidad, y en el riesgo de introducción y expansión de enfermedades y pandemias propias de zonas más meridionales, con los consiguientes efectos sobre la salud y la seguridad sanitaria. Igualmente se hace una aproximación, a la vista de los citados efectos, sobre las medidas más urgentes a establecer en este país, fundamentalmente en adaptación al cambio climático, tanto en el medio rural como urbano, con particular referencia al tema del agua, la energía y la costa. Y, en paralelo, se destaca cómo todos los cambios necesarios para mitigación y adaptación del cambio climático, son también una oportunidad de inversión y generación de nuevo valor añadido y empleos en campos específicos como las energías renovables, la economía verde o circular, o una I+D+i con importantes retornos a medio plazo.

Following the publication in ROP No. 3574 of the first part of the article on climate change, in which the author outlined the significance of the Paris Agr eement (COP21) on Climate Change, the pr esent article goes on to describe the new inter national scenario following the drafting of the agreement. The article summarises the main foreseeable effects of global warming for this country and its effects on fires and droughts, floods and heat waves, on changes in territorial vulnerability, in ecosystems, in biodiversity and on the risk of intr oduction and expansion of diseases and epidemics pr evalent to more southerly climes, with all this implies to health and health security. In the light of these ef fects, the author also considers the most urgent measur es to be established in Spain and fundamentally the adaptation to climate change in both the rural and urban envir onment, with particular reference to water, energy and cost. The author emphasizes that the changes necessary in this country for the mitigation and adaptation of climate change, also serve as an opportunity for investment and new valued-added generation and employment in specific fields such as renewable energy, the green or circular economy, or in R&D with important r eturns in the mid-term.
