Resumen de Estudio Clínico - Patológico Retrospectivo de Papiloma de la Mucosa Bucal en una población venezolana

El Papiloma Bucal es una de las lesiones más frecuente de la boca y es producido por el virus del papiloma humano. Por tal motivo, el presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo determinar la frecuencia del Papiloma Bucal en la población que acude al Servicio de Clínica Estomatológica de la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad Central de Venezuela, en el período de Julio 1988 Julio 1998. A través de las historias clínicas de pacientes con diagnóstico clínico presuntivo de papiloma bucal, se les realizo el estudio histopatológico para confirmar el diagnóstico definitivo de la lesión. De las 250 historias con diagnóstico presuntivo de papiloma bucal, se obtuvo un total de 57 con diagnóstico definitivo señalado (59,6%). El sexo femenino (68,42%) es el más afectado, la localización más frecuente fue la lengua (31,6%), la etnia más afectada es la mestiza (56,1%) y la edad más frecuente fue entre los 50 y 59 años (24,6%). El papiloma bucal es una lesión relativamente frecuente en la población que acude al servicio de Clínica Estomatológica de la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad Central de Venezuela, con mayor prevalencia en el sexo femenino entre la tercera y quinta década de la vida y de localización frecuente en la lengua y fácilmente confundible clínicamente con el fibroma traumático.

Oral Papilloma is one of the injuries most frequent of the mouth and is produced by the virus of human papilloma. The present work had as an objective to determine the frequency of the oral Papilloma in the population that goes to the Service of Estomatologic Clinic of the Faculty of Dentistry of the Central University of Venezuela between July 1988 - 1998. Through clinical histories of patients with presumptive clinical diagnosis of oral papilloma, a histopathologic study was performed to confirm the definitive diagnosis of the lesions. From 250 histories with presumptive diagnosis of oral papilloma, a total of 57 with indicated definitive diagnosis were obtained (59,6%). Female sex (68,42%) is the more affected, the location turned out to be the tongue (31,6%), the ethnic group corresponds with the half-breed (56,1%) and the most frequent age was between the 50 and 59 years old (24,6%). The oral Papilloma is a relatively frequent lesions in the population that goes to the service of the Estomatologic Clinic of the Faculty of Dentistry of the Central University of Venezuela, with greater prevalence in the female sex between the third and fifth decade of the life and of frequent location in the tongue and easily confusing Clinically with traumatic fibrosis.
