Un cas inhabituel de shunt porto-systémique chez un cocker de 9 mois

    Une chienne coker âgée de 9 mois est présentée pour des troubles neurologiques intermittents évoluant depuis 1 mois. L'examen général ne présente as d'nomalie particulière. Les analyses de sang révèlent une très forte augmentation de l'ammoniémie, laissant suspecter une anomalie vasculaire hépatique. Des examens d'imagerie sont alors réalisés et permettent de diagnostiquer un volumineux shunt pancréatico-duodéno-cave. Une occlusion partielle chirurgicale est effectuée après une stabilisation médicale de quelques semaines. Une bonne réponse au traitement chirurgical est observée dans les mois qui suivent l'opération.

    A 9-month old Cocker spaniel bitch was presented for intermittent neurological disorders occurring over a period of a month. The general clinical examiniation showed no particular anomaly. Blood tests revealed a dramatic increase in blood-ammonia concentration, and a hepatic vascular anomaly was suspected. Imaging tests were the carried out and a voluminous pancreatico-duodenal shunt was diagnosed. The dog was stabilised using medical treatment for a few weeks before undergoing partial surgical occlusion. A good response to surgical treatment was observed in the months following the operation.
