    Este artículo examina los principales temas, motivos y formas que construyen los sentidos hagiográficos de las Tablas de San Millán del siglo XIV, custodiadas en el Museo de La Rioja en Logroño. Centra su atención, especialmente, en la configuración de la identidad del santo riojano. En efecto, aspectos tan distantes en apariencia como la estructura material y narrativa, las técnicas, la iconografía o la relación con otras manifestaciones de la tradición artística medieval pueden ayudarnos a comprender mejor materias clave en la hagiografía, como la labor de intermediario del santo entre Dios y los hombres o su relación con el dolor propio y ajeno.

    This paper explores the main topics, motifs and techniques that build up the hagiographical meanings of the Tablas de San Millán, a 14th-century painting held in the Museum of La Rioja, Logroño. It specially focuses on the construction of San Millan�s identity. Some matters which seem to be remote such as material and narrative structure, iconography or the relationship with other medieval artworks can be helpful to understand key aspects from hagiography like saints� mediation between God and humans and their fight against their own pain and the suffering of the community. All of this is under analysis in this paper.
