  • Resumen
    • Considering the main topic of this conference, which is inspired by a line pronounced by King Theseus' mother in Euripides' "Suppliants (l.394), the authors of this chapter question whether 'wise words' can also be heard from the lips of women in Plautus' comedies. To answer this question, we take into account the particular features of comedy and, specifically, the jocular and trivial character of Plautine comedy. above all, we focus on the female character in the following comedies by Plautus: "Amphitruo", "Stichus", "Aulularia", "Cistellaria", "Casina", "Menaechmi", "Mercator", "Miles Gloriosus", "Mostellaria" and "Persa".
