    The pledge of future receivables has not received much attention from Portuguese scholars or case law and its admissibility is debatable under Portuguese law. This article intends to contribute, although in a non-exhaustive way, to the discussion of this matter. For this purpose, the article focuses on the grounds of admissibility of the pledge of future receivables, the concept of «future receivables», the relationship between the creation of the receivable and the perfection of the pledge and the relevance of the notification to the debtor.

    O penhor de créditos futuros não tem merecido uma análise aprofundada na doutrina e na jurisprudência portuguesas, sendo discutível a sua admissibilidade à luz do direito português. O presente artigo pretende contribuir, de forma não exaustiva, para a discussão deste tema. Para o efeito, analisam-se os fundamentos de admissibilidade do penhor de créditos futuros, o conceito de «créditos futuros», a rela- ção entre o nascimento do crédito e a perfeição do contrato do penhor e o papel desempenhado pela notificação do devedor.
