    A finales del siglo xix, pero en especial en las tres primeras décadas del xx, inmi- grantes chinos llegaron a Chiapas, siendo la costa de esta entidad federativa el es- pacio donde se asentaron la mayoría de ellos. Las escasas investigaciones sobre estos migrantes asiáticos en el sureste mexicano han tratado de señalar el trabajo o trabajos que llegaron a realizar antes de convertirse principalmente en comercian- tes. Las páginas de este artículo pretenden ahondar en el tema y mostrar a través de información bibliográfica, fuentes primarias y entrevistas los disímiles caminos que adoptaron para su integración laboral en la sociedad chiapaneca.

    In the late nineteenth century, especially during the first three decades of the twen- tieth century, Chinese immigrants arrived in Chiapas, being the cost of such federal state where most of them were settled. The few studies on these Asian migrants in southern Mexico have tried to point out the kind of work or works they did —as a job— before becoming traders. The pages of this article are intended to show through bibliographic information, primary sources and interviews, the dissimilar paths they took in order to achieve their labor integration in Chiapas society.
