  • Tracking prices against economic indicators such as GDP, oil prices, metals price index, agriculture raw and material price index, general manager Daniela Desormeaux, told delegates at the conference, that "only one third of lithium exports can be explained by global economic indicators".

    The predictions provoked some disagreement with Roskill's managing director [Robert Baylis], as Umicore's predictions were much lower than Roskill's previous forecasts.

    Looking specifically at three recent lithium deals Salares Lithium acquired by Talison Lithium (September 2010); Lithium One by Galaxy Resources (July 2012); and Chengdu Tianqi acquiring Talison (closing this year) N Villani said all three held a common theme - they were via arrangements, not takeover bids.
