  • "While there is a lot of interest in strategic minerals in the US, so far there has been minimal discussion on environmentally sustainable methods to expand mineral resources," [David Mayfield] said.

    "I do not expect that we will see a raft of regulation appear at once," Mayfield said. "Different criteria come into play at different stages of production, so environmental guidelines will most likely evolve organically as the industry matures." The terms "critical" and "strategic" are often used interchangeably.
