Resumen de Advocacy for Empowerment: A Case of the Learning Disabled People in Malaysia

• The objective of this study was to examine the role of advocacy for empowerment of the learning disabled (LD) people in Malaysia. The study used a qualitative research approach, where multi-method data collection methods such as in-depth case study, focus group discussions, and documentations surveys were employed. Data was collected from the staff members and disabled people from a nongovernmental organization (NGO) named United Voice (UV) working on learning disability in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The results showed that advocacy is a powerful tool towards empowerment at individual, family, and community levels for the LD people.
