    El carpe diem consiste en la invitación a aprovechar el momento y a disfrutar de la juventud y de la belleza, sin preocuparse del futuro, mientras es posible, y antes de que lo impida el transcurso del tiempo, la pérdida de la juventud y la llegada de la enfermedad, la vejez y la muerte. Pese a que suele considerarse la poesía de carpe diem un todo homogéneo, podemos distinguir subvariantes. En este trabajo describimos las principales modalidades del carpe diem erótico, desmontando los supuestos sexistas que sustentan sus textos, y recogemos algunas de las respuestas femeninas contemporáneas, transgresoras y a veces irreverentes, a estas exhortaciones interesadas al placer.

    The carpe diem topos is an invitation to take advantage of the present moment and to enjoy youth and beauty, without worrying about future, while it is possible, and before the flight of time, loss of youth and arrival of illness, old age and death, prevent us from doing it. Carpe diem poetry is usually regarded as one homogeneous group, but it is possible to distinguish several strains. In this paper the main strains of the erotic topos (matrimonial, gentile, and libertine) will be surveyed, with a view to deconstruct the sexist, male-oriented foundations which lay below the genre. Finally, some strong, irreverent answers to these proposals, arising from contemporary female voices, will be presented and discussed.
