    Durante las cuatro últimas décadas se han utilizado numerosas técnicas de re-gistro, desde las manuales tipo ‘lápiz y papel’ (ahora informatizados) hasta sofi s-ticados sistemas (radio o video tracking), con los que monitorizar los desplaza-mientos de los jugadores. Como ninguna de las alternativas aglutina un análisis fi able, preciso, válido, sostenible (práctico y barato), inmediato y contextualizado al despliegue táctico-estratégico del juego, una combinación de técnicas parece ser la mejor manera de conocer lo que ocurrió o está ocurriendo durante un partido o el entrenamiento. Superada la primera fase descriptiva del juego, gracias al cúmu-lo de conocimiento y a la utilización de indicadores particulares de rendimiento, se está cada vez más cerca de conocer (probabilísticamente) lo que ocurrirá. Además, la incorporación de nuevas variables colectivas y la implementación de técnicas analíticas capaces de incorporar lo dinámico, son la base de la tendencia que está tomando el desarrollo de los sistemas de registro y su aplicación en el análisis del rendimiento en fútbol.

    During the last four decades, there have been used numerous recording techniques, from manual type like ‘pencil and paper’ (now computerized) to sophisticated systems (radio or video tracking), with which to monitoring the movements of the players. None of the alternatives have all the qualities to complete a reliable analysis, accurate, valid, sustainable (cheap and practical ), immediate and contextualized to the tactical and strategic development of the game, so a combination of techniques seems to be the best way to know what happened or is happening during a match or training. Overcome the descriptive phase of the game, thanks to the knowledge and use of particular indicators of performance, we are nearer to know (probabilistically) what will happen. Furthermore, the incorporation of new team variables and implementation of analytical techniques capable of incorporating the dynamic, are the basis of the trend that is taking the development of registration systems and their application in football. Furthermore, the incorporation of new team’ variables and implementation of analytical techniques capable to assess the dynamic of the play are the basis of a new approach in the development of registration systems and their application in performance analysis in football.
