Maglev transport systems with short-stator drive can be used with advantage for long-distance services with a relatively small traffic volume and for additional applications in the field of mixed cargo traffic.
New design concepts of short-stator induction and synchronous motors and the advantages in the field of electromagnetic levitation and guidance technology are expected to result in a growing acceptance and economy of tracked high-speed transport.
Attempts are made to quantify the recognized development potential within the framework of the projects planned by Thussen Henschel (leader-ship) in co-operation with foreign and national partners for the conceptual design and preliminary development of the DELSYM and U-LIM short-stator systems.
