  • As a last step prior to placing into operation, the high-speed maglev system will be subjected to realistic, long-term tests as a complete unit on the Emsland Transrapid test facility (TVE) under conditions resembling its normal application. After final completion, the test track will have a length of 31,5 km. The test vehicle has a capacity of 196 passengers and is designed for speeds up to 400 km/h. The tests on a scale resembling the actual application are intended to prove and verify the design calculations for the maglev system and its predicted advantages. The goal, requirements and design concept of the test facility are described.
