  The Origins of the Abbey of Vezelay and the Beginnings of its Monastic Organisation (9th to 12th century). An archaeological research programme in the immediate surroundings of the abbey-church at Vézelay has revealed evidence of the beginnings of the medieval monastery’s resettlement after its transfer from the original foundation-place in the valley around 860. These initial elements provide insight into the genesis of a vast organisation of the monastic buildings which are abandoned after the 16th century.

  Les résultats d’une recherche archéologique programmée sur les abords de l’abbatiale de Vézelay ont mis en évidence les premières traces médiévales d’installation du monastère après son déplacement depuis le lieu de sa fondation dans la vallée vers 860. On peut percevoir à travers ces premiers éléments la genèse d’une vaste organisation des bâtiments monastiques qui seront délaissés après le XVIe siècle.
