  • Resumen
    • Some problems about passenger safety on metro trains and those related with entering or alighting from the coaches are exposed. All these are connected with crew-supplying policies (on trains and dependencies). The article is focused on safety problems, and pays a special attention to the role played by automation techniques.

A questionnaire was made, concerning the methods adopted by some administrations, and their justification, in order to elaborate a report. This questionnaire had eleven subdivisions, including such aspects as: physical characteristics of the network (tunnel length, single or double-track/tunnels, etc.) traffic conditions, signaling and communication systems, vigilance services, traffic regulation systems and crew assignment to trains and stations.

Possible incidents that could affect passenger comfort and safety including lengthy stops between stations or train arrival/departure moments are studied. Network characteristics (coach spacing, traction/current-supplying methods, etc.) and risks are related.

Train and station crew-supplying policies are exposed, studying their circumstances, future plans and actuations.

Finally, the article ends with the existing correlations between incidents, place where they happen, automation degree and crew actuations. Some conclusions are exposed, obtained from the analysis of the questionnaire answers.
