Una de derechos lingüísticos: varios conceptos sociolingüísticos aplicables a la situación del asturiano

    El asturiano es uno de los muchos idiomas del mundo que está perdiendo hablantes a medida que los años pasan. No es un fenómeno nuevo, ni será el último, pero hay maneras para revertir esa situación, y la comunidad de hablantes asturiana lleva décadas buscando la oficialidad y la normalización. Aún con el empeño de enfocar su lucha en el ámbito de los derechos lingüísticos, esos dos objetivos no se están cumpliendo tan fácilmente y merece la pena aplicar unos conceptos de la sociolingüística moderna que podrían ayudar en su lucha. Este artículo intenta combinar la situación actual del asturiano con los ya mencionados conceptos, con la intención de contribuir en el proceso de normalización presente.

    Asturian is one of the many languages of the world that continues losing speakers over the time. This is not a new phenomenon and it will not be the last case, but ways to overcome this situation do exist. In fact, the Asturian community has sought the recognition and revitalization/normalization for decades. Despite their goal to focus their language movements on the language rights sphere, the above mentioned two goals have not been achieved and perhaps, the application of some concepts from Modern Sociolinguistics could contribute to the improvementof the current situation of Asturian. This work attempts to combine the actual state of Asturian with these new concepts, so as to create some discussion and enrich the prospects for revitalization.
