Resumen de Viajar no mundo romano: As estalagens e hospedarias

In this study we deal with the act of travelling in the Roman world _who, how and why people traveled. Reviewing the different modes of travel and the different types of accommodation (travellers staying in their own homes scattered along the route, at friends' houses, or at inns and cheaper and less desirable hotels), we define the meaning and functions of "hospitium, deuersorium, caupona, popina, thermopolium, stabulum, taberna, mansio" and "mutatio" to then recreate the environment lived in the most popular establishments, noting the dangers travellers ran there and the services that were rendered to passers-by.

Neste estudo ocupamo-nos das viagens no mundo romano _ quem viajava, porque o fazia e como o fazia. Passando em revista os diferentes modos de viajar e os diversos tipos de alojamento, desde a "domus" própria ou de amigos às estalagens e hospedarias mais baratas e menos recomendáveis, define-se o significado e as funções de "hospitium, deuersorium, caupona, popina,thermopolium, stabulum, taberna, mansio e mutatio", para em seguida se recriar o ambiente vivido nos estabelecimentos mais populares, observando os perigos que aí se corriam e os serviços que eram prestados a quem passava
