Resumen de Significado e importancia del Compromiso de Caspe (1412) en la producción hagiográfica

La elección de Vicente Ferrer (�1419) como compromisario en Caspe marcó un hito en la historia del Reino de Aragón. En Caspe hizo una denodada defensa de los derechos sucesorios del infante de Castilla, D. Fernando de Antequera. A los pocos años de su muerte, su compañero de orden y humanista italiano, Fr. Pietro Ranzano, compone la primera biografía del santo (c. 1456), en la que frente a las crónicas y documentos históricos de la época, intentará mostrar que su protagonista fue un auténtico fraile dominico y, por ello, un fiel reflejo del fundador de la orden, Domingo de Guzmán. Tomando como punto de partida esta primera biografía latina del santo, obra más propia de un humanista cristiano que de un hagiógrafo medieval, se analiza el significado e importancia del episodio del ompromiso de Caspe y la decisiva participación del santo valenciano en el mismo a través de toda la hagiografía latina posterior

The election of Vicente Ferrer (�1419) in Caspe as elector marked a milestone in the history of the Kingdom of Aragon. In Caspe made a bold defense of the inheritance rights of the infant of Castile, Fernando de Antequera. A few years after his death, Fr. Pietro Ranzano, also Dominican friar and Italian humanist, composed the first biography of the saint (c. 1456), in which, unlike the chronicles and historical documents of the time, it will attempt to show that his protagonist was a real Dominican friar and, therefore, a reflection of the founder of the order, Domingo of Guzman. Taking as a starting point this first Latin biography of the saint, proper work of a humanist than a medieval hagiographer, the meaning and importance of the episode Compromise of Caspe and decisive participation of Valencian saint in the same is analyzed through all subsequent Latin hagiography.
