    La Unión Europea ha culminado la puesta en marcha de los nuevos instrumentos de financiación para el periodo 2014-2020. La entrada en vigor del Reglamento por el que se crea el Fondo de Asilo, Migración e Integración ha dejado sin efecto la normativa por la que se regía el anterior Fondo Europeo para la Integración de Nacionales de Terceros países. Con este último se financiaron en España numerosos programas destinados a la integración sociolaboral de los inmigrantes desde su creación en 2007, pero no siempre sus objetivos se ajustaron a las prioridades de la Comisión Europea. Los enormes desafíos a los que nos enfrentamos en un contexto económico, social y político totalmente diferente al de hace nueve años plantean la urgente necesidad de seguir profundizando en la reflexión sobre nuestras políticas de integración de inmigrantes.

    The European Union finds itself in the process of testing new financing methods for the coming 2014-2020 period. The proposal for a regulation establishing the Asylum and Migration Fund has reached its final phase, and its implementation shall supersede the rules that governed the European Fund for the Integration of third-country nationals. This fund has financed numerous programs for the social integration of immigrants in Spain since its implementation in 2007, but the fund’s goals have not always aligned with the priorities of the European Commission. The major challenge is that Spain is facing an economic, social, and political period this is completely different from seven years ago. Therefore, there is an urgent need to deepen our reflection on immigrant integration policies.
