Despite being one of the most remarkable examples of the early Spanish Renaissance, the progressive deterioration of the Palace of Cogolludo (Guadalajara) led it to ruin and to the loss of much of their structures. After intense previous interdisciplinary research, the archaeological intervention and the conservation and restoration works carried out, have allowed the recovery of the whole palace, enabling an accessible route to visit it, including the excavated structures and the exhibition of the pieces and of the most remarkable found elements. This article summarizes the process undertaken and informs about the findings and their interpretation, providing new information on the material history of the palace. Albeit the knowledge acquired had made feasible the complete and accurate reconstruction of its main buildings, the restrictions of the current legislation in this area and the lack of enough original pieces, have allowed only the anastylosis of some of them. Through virtual reconstruction and comparatively with the works carried out, a hypothesis on the complete configuration of the main courtyard and of the disappeared garden galleries is provided, showing their compositional and material quality and their proportions and dimensions, that constitute truly remarkable architectural and artistic elements.
