Resumen de Incompatibilidad entre el Efecto Rebote y la Curva Ambiental de Kuznets

El Efecto Rebote y la Curva Ambiental de Kuznets son hipótesis emparentadas con los fundamentales de la teoría económica ortodoxa. Ambas se hallan conexas al proceso de innovación, la dinámica del ingreso y las externalidades del crecimiento económico de base tecnológica. Cada una de ellas representa un constructo teórico consistente, si bien resultan incompatibles entre sí cuando se las compara. La Curva Ambiental de Kuznets ha servido de sustento a la desmaterialización, una estratagema discursiva clave del Desarrollo Sustentable. Por su parte, el Efecto Rebote desdice de dicha tendencia, y en su lugar, ilustra incrementos agregados en el uso de recursos cuando se presentan innovaciones que paradójicamente buscan ahorros de éstos. Este artículo tiene por objetivo ilustrar la incompatibilidad entre hipótesis y en segundo término, elucidar la implicación inmediata de ello en el discurso de la sustentabilidad.

Rebound Effect and Environmental Kuznets Curve have been largely explained by using the economic orthodox background, even though they are unsuitable among themselves. Both areconsistent and well-knownhypothesis, closely related with technological change processes and theunderlying income dynamic. Rebound does not match the dematerialization assumption which supports the Environmental Kuznets Curve. The last hypothesis has been used as the spearhead of the sustainability proposals, but Rebound shows that paradoxically the aggregate use of resources rises when some innovations to save them are displayed. The aim of this paper is to explore the unsuitable relation between both hypotheses and then try to offer a new sight about sustainability.
