    Freud's famous clinical report known as "The wolf man" and the re-interpretation of its central dream are the basis for our review of the "primary scene" as (re)built by Freud in this case. Special attention has been given to the simultaneous occurrence of phobia and severe physical illness. In this article, we present the hypothesis that a nonsexual body trauma was essential to the development of the signifier chain in relation to the patient's animal phobia and, the longstanding mental disease (neurosis?). The concept of trauma in Psychoanalysis and its relation with the body and with anguish is discussed in this scenario.

    A partir do famoso caso clínico conhecido como "O Homem dos Lobos" e da reinterpretação do sonho sobre o qual todo ele se fundamenta, a "cena primária" (re)construída por Freud é revista à luz de fatos relacionados a uma grave doença física concomitante. O conceito de trauma em Psicanálise e sua relação com o corpo e com a angústia é discutido neste contexto.
