    In his "Ars grammatica", Julian of Toledo combines three kinds of authorities as a source of illustrative examples of the aspects of grammar which he explains: traditional classical authors, Christian authors and the Bible. Nearly half the books of the Bible are used throughout the manual, especially in the section devoted to "uitia et uirtudes orationis"; however, the sacred texts which are most frequently cited are Genesis, the book of Isaiah and, in particular, the Psalms and the Gospels, with the exception of Mark. The version of the Bible used by the scholar from Toledo is the most commonly used in Visigothic Hispania: a text close to the "Vulgata", but with numerous variant readings from "Vetus Latina"

    En su "Ars grammatica" Julián de Toledo combina tres autoridades para ejemplificar los aspectos gramaticales explicados: autores clásicos tradicionales, autores cristianos y la Biblia. Casi la mitad de los libros bíblicos es utilizada a lo largo de todo el manual, especialmente en el apartado dedicado a los "uitia et uirtutes orationis"; sin embargo, los textos sagrados citados con más frecuencia son el Génesis, el libro de Isaías y , sobre todo, los Salmos y los Evangelios, excepto el de san Marcos. La versión bíblica usada por el maestro toledano es la habitual en la Hispania visigótica: un texto cercano al de la "Vulgata", pero con numerosas variantes propias de la "Vetus Latina"
