  • Resumen
    • Giovanni Andrea Carlone was an atypical presence among the artists of Genoa in the second half of the 17th century. Far from home, he achieved great success in both Rome and Perugia after which he returned to Genoa in 1678 to lead his father’s large well-established workshop. Unfortunately, mostly due to calamities during the last war, many of the works created in Genoa after his return have not survived to this day, making it impossible to do a systematic analysis of his production. The discovery of historical photos that document an entire important painting cycle has allowed a more accurate understanding of his work, including the chronology, the models and techniques used in the workshop and the active collaborations he had with painters of the time, as well as adding a new jewel to the artist’s production.
