The creation of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 1995 is the result of a process of international economic integration. One of its objectives is to arbitrate on commercial disputes between its members. The WTO is the benchmark in assisting in the resolution of international commercial divergences. In the case of the cross-border trucking services between Mexico and the US, the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) was the right choice of forum. The contentious lasted for years, remaining controversial in the US to this day, and still with much to be heard from.
