  Este trabajo tiene como objetivo dar a conocer las peculiares circunstan-cias que rodearon la edición e impresión en Murcia de un Prontuario General, una obra patrocinada por la Real Hacienda y destinada a agilizar las actividades administrativas de las contadurías de los Departamento de Marina. Se han utilizado como fuentes de información varios contratos de impresión suscritos entre el comisionado del Departamento de Cartagena y el impresor Felipe Teruel, así como el firmado entre su autor y comisionado, Manuel Sarti, con el maestro librero Vicente Royo. A estas fuentes documentales se ha sumado el análisis material de los dos tomos de la obra, una forma de confirmar el cum-plimiento de los acuerdos entre las partes, al tiempo que se aportan informa-ciones complementarias: calidad del papel y su procedencia, el número de resmas necesarias o los materiales y características técnicas de la encuaderna-ción. Por medio de dicha metodología se ha conseguido conocer aspectos relacionados con los usos seguidos en el taller murciano, su equipamiento, el ritmo de trabajo y la profesionalidad de los maestros y oficiales que trabajaron en la impresión y encuadernación de aquel trabajo tipográfico.

  This article reveals the circumstances surrounding the editing and printing in Murcia of a Prontuario General, a work sponsored by the Royal Treasury and intended to streamline the administration of the Navy Department’s accounting offices. Several printing contracts have been drawn upon, such as the ones signed by the Commissioner of the Cartagena Department and the printer Felipe Teruel, or the one agreed between, on the one hand, the author and Commissioner Manuel Sarti and, on the other, the master-bookseller Vicente Royo. These documents are complemented by a material analysis of the work’s two volumes and shows that the agreements between the signatories were respected, as well as providing information about the quality and origin of the paper used, the number of reams required, binding materials, and other technical matters. This methodology allows us to learn about some of the procedures followed in the Murcia workshop, its equipment, the pace of work, and the professional skills of the masters and employees who printed and bound this edition.
