  • Resumen
    • This article shows the research work that RENFE is developing for the application of chopper to the regulation and control of electric traction motors.

The following aspects are taken into account:

      - Definition of performance threshold in several track circuits in RENFE.

      - Harmonics generated by sub-stations.

      - Tests and measurements achieved on line with two little power prototype vehicles with chopper to determine if these prototypes circulation could generate: disturbances in track circuits that exceed the performance threshold of track circuits; disturbances on communications transmission, higher than the ones admitted for CCITT and UIC.

      - These tests and measurements have achieved, also, with conventional vehicles of the same characteristics as the prototypes to get comparative data.

It have been confirmed from the works already realized, that the two train units that realize commercial service have not presented any problem on signaling or communication installations.

RENFE is developing its research work to introduce the technique of chopper, as well on little power vehicles (electric units), as on big power ones (electric locomotives).
