O objetivo deste texto é apresentar algumas reflexões feitas pelos intelectuais ibero-americanos sobre as implicações da herança ibérica na construção da identidade nacional desses países. Atenção especial será dada às reflexões feitas pelos intelectuais brasileiros das primeiras décadas do século XX, momento em que o tema da identidade nacional provocou um número cada vez maior de paixões, debates e reflexões.

The objective of this text is to present some reflections by ibero-american intellectuals about the implications of the Iberian inheritance in the construction of national identity of these countries. Special attention will be given to the reflections made by brazilian intellectuals of the first decades of the twentieth century, moment in which the theme of national identity has caused an ever greater number of passions, discuss and reflections
