La dictadura militar chilena creó representaciones sociales en torno a la mujer en búsqueda de apoyo social, la legitimidad y la credibilidad de las cuales carecía. El Plan de Reconstrucción Nacional impulsado por el régimen reforzó, a través de lo femenino, un modelo de sociedad tradicional y patriarcal sobre la cual definió la estructura social chilena transversalmente a toda la nación. En dicho contexto, el periódico El Mercurio de Santiago, relacionado con el sector político de derecha el país, jugó un rol intensificador y propagador del discurso, al mismo tiempo que consolidó las representaciones sociales femeninas como bastión de la Reconstrucción Nacional.
The Chilean military dictatorship created social representations around the woman in search of social support, legitimacy and the credibility of which lacked. The national reconstruction plan promoted by the regime reinforced, through the feminine, a model of traditional and patriarchal society on which defined Chile social structure across the entire nation. In this context, the newspaper El Mercurio de Santiago, related to the right political sector of the country, played a intensifier role and propagator of the speech, at the same time strengthened the female social representations as a bastion of national reconstruction.
