Thanks to the field work conducted on two historical buildings typical of local tradition and made available to us by the city administrators of Stenico, we were able to conduct a study on the main problems that arise when we pass from the theory of general indications to the aspects of existing reality. In particular, the students found themselves having to deal with the aspects related to the interpretation of construction techniques, the transformation and the phases identified in the stratigraphy of the walls, the identification of the damage and the structural behaviour with reference to the reduction and possible prevention of earthquake risks. What emerged at the end was some reflections on the relationship between history and planning and the changing relationship between architecture and landscape which were connected to changes in use over time. The exchange in experiences and knowledge applied for the phase of interpretation and restitution of the wall structures of the histoica buildings we studied turned out to be of particular interest for the students who came from different academic backgrounds and were limited by the notions acquired during the study of their particular areas of specialization; through this experience, the students were able to amplify their areas of knowledge both in relation to their own sectors and the construction reality of the historical buildings.
