  • Resumen
    • New possibilities of traction appear before the realization of the prototype train of hydrostatic transmission, with a maximum speed of 220 km/h experimented by Volvo Hydraulic.

The objects of this project may be analysed as:

      - High energy/weight relationship of the engines, which imply little dynamic force on the rail.

      - Use of variable hydraulic pumps that make the function of the motive engine at constant r.p.m. possible.

      - The hydrostatic transmission assures comfort and freedom in the placing of the motive machinery.

      - The use of hydraulic transmission for decelerating and braking together with the recuperation of electric energy.

      - The system gives an excellent control of speed in the hydraulic transmission.

      - With hydrostatic transmission the impulsive force can be distributed from the motive engine to the desired number of wheels.

      - The inclusion of a system of anti-yawing.

Posteriorly it studies the principles of the hydraulic system in all its details; from the disposition of the circuit, to the life of service of the bearings, passing through the traction force, disposition of the engine of the wheel, the control of the pump and the braking possibilities.

In a third and final part the control system is considered, which also analyses, in all its sections of control functions, the principles of the system and the functioning controls.

In order to carry out the control system of the hydrostatic transmission of the train, schemes of control by means of simulation in an analogous computer were investigated. The control system is manual, with adequate units for the transmitters and adjusting mechanisms. This system has a great calculating capacity, as well as covering the necessities for the observation and detection of errors and their localising.
