Resumen de Medidas de las características de transmisión de la vía

Fernando Torres, Juan Viñas Sanz, León Vidaller Sisó

  • The choice of the analytic mode and of the measurement system to be used, will be closely related to the role conferred to the problem, and which, as far as the electric rails feature measurement is concerned, could be summed up in four overall paragraphs:

Influence of the non-electric outside factors on the specific parameters of the system, physical role, change of behavior according to the electric excitations, and additive type outside interference.

The classical equations for a transmission line are proposed for the characterization of the rail transmission properties. A study of the rail behavior by means of the Maxwell equations, assuming cylindrical rails, as well as the verification of the resulting measurements by means of the mathematical model for a transmission line, has shown its validity.

The measuring equipment will be able to measure impedances with the following basic features: adjustable and constant rail excitation intensity; quickness; it will confer a high signal power to the rail; high accuracy.

Measurements have been carried out at the "Nuevos Ministerios" and "Valdelatas" stations, belonging to Renfe. To check the accuracy of these measurements, a new verification measurement was carried out.

A new equipment which will allow us to carry out a great number of measurements is being automated, it can be timed and will not interfere with the normal railway traffic.

Among the foreseen applications, we can bring out: simulation or rail artificial lines; improvement of rail transmission features; transmission of train-rail information; rail circuits with no insulation splices; singularity detection.
