Resumen de Sistemas de transportes terrestres no convencionales. Sustentación por neumáticos. "Airtrans"

Sergio Mantero Meléndez

  • The conventional methods of collective transport in their own or common locations, which use large capacity heavy vehicles, with relatively long waiting times, especially in off-peak times, which do not adapt to the demands for transport which at present appear or exist in certain specific zones of activity or in the new agglomerations. As a result, there is the necessity for a system of transport which complementing the urban rail networks or those of less movement, solves such new demands for transport.

The characteristics of the "Airtrans" transport system offer a solution to the problems of human or goods transport in the interior of agglomerations or between agglomerations in distance of kilometres or hectometres.

The "Airtrans" is an urban transport system which is based on the use of automatically driven vehicles, moving on its own rails with light infrastructure.

At the moment it is one of the principle systems in the range of collective land transport and developed by "LTV Aerospace Corporation". The automisation has been carried out by the "Compagnie d'Études Industrielles" (COCEI), which is a group of the "Lebon Industry" company.

    Its principle characteristics are:

    -Operational system.

-Simple guide device, particularly well adapted to the realization of the points systems.

-Classical chassis, the same for passengers as for goods.

    -Completely automatic, without train-drivers.

    -Complete working order security.

-High level of service and comfort.

    -Easily integrated.

-Flexibility in adaptation of uses and variour layouts.

    -Possible functioning in bi-mode.
