When using electronic techniques of safety installations three main points must be considered:
-The integral safety of the systems.
-The reliability of the systems.
-The availability of the services of railway administration's technical assistance.
EYSSA has developed a modular system that while conforming to the above requirements may also be applied to conventional combined electro-technology - electronic equipment as well as to other electrotechnical applications.
The article shows the theoretical fundamentals of the FAIL-SAFE static logistics applied, the practical procedures used to improve the reliability of the systems and the modular engineering of the resulting equipment, as well as its physical performance intended for the best detection and connection of errors without endangering the FAIL-SAFE quality of the equipment caused by improper human interferences.
Finally, it shows the application of these systems to a particular installation concerning the automatic application of a level railway-crossing.
