Research into the evolution of the geometric state of a railway line is in process of experiment and trial. However, given the absence of a formal scheme for the study of this evolution, which permits deductive planning, the best of the economic researches available for the purpose of arriving at a higher degree of objectivity in the decisions, as much concerning the maintenance as the renewal of the railway line, a plan has been worked out which establishes the decisions of participation, based, on the one hand, on a system detection of quality deterioration and, on the other, on a system of economic values related to the possible consequences of effect.
The study is developed along the general technical lines of the theory of reliability and of multiple and stochastic mathematical optimization.
