"There is a big demand for barite from Aramco. In 2012 their consumption was around 500,000 tonnes, and next year they are expected to have 170 rigs compared to 145 rigs now. In 2013 and 2014 Aramco's consumption is expected to increase by 60%," said [Al-Qubaisi].
In addition to supplying chemicals and salt brines (calcium chloride and sodium chloride), ESNAAD's processing plant has a production capacity of 80,000-100,000 tpa barite, with storage capacity of 80,000 tpa crude ore, and 5,000 tpa processed barite.
For bentonite, the company has 35,000-55,000 tpa processing capacity, 10,000-5,000 tpa crude ore storage capacity and about 1,000 tpa processed bentonite storage capacity.
