  • Resumen
    • Background: Web 2.0 can be useful for sharing drug information between healthcare professionals.

Objectives: To describe the process of selection, implementation and development of web 2.0 tools to perform the functions of a virtual Drug Information Centre of Hospital Pharmacy Service.

Method: Multidisciplinary group of professionals identified and categorized structural areas of the virtual Drug Information Centre in which they could implement 2.0 tools. Those 2.0 tools were implemented in the different areas of the Drug Information Centre. The activity and the impact were also documented through metrics, hit counters, shared documents and followers of the different tools.

Results: The development, implementation and evaluation of virtual Drug In- formation was performed during four years. Seven 2.0 tools were selected and implemented over time, to store, communicate, receive and classify information: Netvibes, Slideshare, Twitter, WordPress blog, Flickr, Zotero and a Google Site were implemented. Twitter and WordPress Blog were accredited by the Catalan Institute of Health. We proposed a map of specific activities in the drug information area and Web 2.0 services available.

Conclusions: The selected web 2.0 tools were very useful for the development of the functions of the Drug Information Centre
