    La crisis económica, los cada vez más frecuentes fl ujos migratorios y el ascenso en algunos países europeos de partidos racistas, ha puesto en primera línea de debate la inmigración y las actitudes que conlleva en Europa. Con el presente estudio se pretende analizar, desde una perspectiva comparativa entre países, las actitudes hacia los inmigrantes mostradas por los ciudadanos de distintos países europeos, para en última instancia conocer cuáles son los determinantes que infl uyen en las mismas, usando para ello la Encuesta Social Europea de 2012. El estudio comienza con un repaso por las teorías más reconocidas con respecto al tema, tras ello para responder al objetivo planteado hacemos uso de técnicas estadísticas como el análisis factorial, ANOVA y la regresión lineal, y para fi nalizar se presentan los resultados que muestran la distribución de los países con respecto al nivel de tolerancia hacia los inmigrantes y las variables que infl uyen en ello.

    The economic crisis, the increasingly migration fl ows and the rise of racist parties in some European countries has placed the immigration issue and attitudes that it entails in the public debate in Europe. This study aims to analyze, by using the 2012 European Social Survey and from a comparative perspective between countries, attitudes towards immigrants shown by citizens from different European countries and the determinants that infl uence them. The paper begins with a review of the most recognized literature on the subject, after that, in order to meet the stated objective we use statistical techniques such as factor analysis, ANOVA and linear regression, and fi nally the results are presented showing the ranking of countries regarding their level of tolerance towards immigrants as well as the variables that infl uence it.
