  Esta investigación se adentra en el ritual funerario de la Prehistoria de Puerto Rico realizando un aporte al debate sobre la función social de los enterramientos y la posibilidad de deducir aspectos de la organización social a partir de ellos. Partiendo de la perspectiva de que aunque existen inversiones y enmascaramientos que pueden afectar a la identificación de la posición social concreta de un individuo. Debemos decir que estas mismas estrategias distorsionadoras proporcionan indicios para determinar la estructura social de la comunidad, atendiendo a variables dependientes especialmente del contenedor. Nos centraremos en un aspecto: el emplazamiento de las tumbas y otros centros ceremoniales y su relación con los asentamientos.

  This research presents a study of megalithic phenomena and funerary rituals in the Prehistory of Puerto Rico to contribute to the overall discussion thereof on the social function of the burials and the possibility of deducing aspects of the social organization from them. Starting from the perspective of which although investments exist and camouflage can affect the identification of the concrete social position of an individual. We must say that these same distorting strategies provide indications to determine the social structure of the community, taking into account variables related to the container. We will concentrate in one aspect: the location of the tombs and other ceremonial centers, and their relation with the dwelling site.
