    The aim of this article is to study the linguistic contraints bearing on the invocation of the Muse, a typical motif of Latin poetry. The connection between the vocative case, the place of certain words obeying Wackernagel’s law and the metrical structures is studied, in particular in the hexameter.

    L’objet de cet article est d’étudier les contraintes linguistiques qui s’exercent dans l’invocation à la muse, motif caractéristique de la poésie latine. On étudie, notamment dans l’hexamètre, les rapports qu’entretiennent le vocatif, la place de certains mots soumis aux effets de la loi de Wackernagel et les structures métriques.
