    Aunque muchas historias del cine narran la llegada de esta diversión a nuestras tierras, muy pocas se ocupan de historiar cómo responde el público local ante la irrupción de este fenómeno. América Latina se encuentra en plena recepción de la modernidad y el cine llega como un elemento más para designar el avance de la tecnología en la región, pero también trajo consigo el desorden, la magia, la guachafa. Implantar el orden para alcanzar el progreso es una idea cardinal del pensamiento positivista y la civilidad, un principio fundamental para regular la vida social y construir la república. En las siguientes líneas develaremos algunos aspectos de cómo se vincula el cine con las ideas de progreso en América Latina y cómo sale adelante.

    Although many film histories narrate the arrival of this spectacle to our lands, very few workon historical address how the local public responds to the emergence of this phenomenon. Latin America is in full reception of modernity and cinema arrives as an element to designate the advancement of technology in the region, but also brought with it the mess, the magic, the guachafa. Implement order to achieve progress is a cardinal idea of positivism and civility,a fundamental principle to regulate social life and build the republic. The following lines disclose some aspects of how the film is linked with the ideas of progress in Latin America and how to get ahead.
