Resumen de Un ascenso indefinido hacia Dios. El paisaje místico de Fray Guillermo Butler

At work I intend to develop a short life journey of Brother William Butler op, emphasizing basic choices for which he devoted his life to preaching the mystery of God through art, demonstrating the freedom of the Spirit in their aesthetic choice and the way inserted in the construction of national identity in the early twentieth century. From the analysis of some of his writings and art criticism, I will develop an outline of theological hermeneutics called “Mystical landscape” of Butler, as was described aptly by critics of the time, to stop reading any of his works in which the author invites us, through the aesthetic and symbolic language, to an indefinite ascent towards God.

En el trabajo pretendo desarrollar un breve itinerario vital de Fray Guillermo Butler op, destacando las opciones fundamentales por las cuales consagró su vida a la predicación del misterio de Dios a través del arte, evidenciando la libertad del Espíritu en su opción estética y en el modo de insertarse en la construcción de la identidad nacional en los inicios del siglo XX. Desde el análisis de algunos de sus escritos y de la crítica de arte, desarrollaré un esbozo de la hermenéutica teológica del denominado “Paisaje místico” de Butler, según fue calificado acertadamente por la crítica de la época, para detenerme en la lectura de alguna de sus obras en la cual el autor nos invita, a través del lenguaje estético y la simbólica, a un ascenso indefinido hacia Dios.
