Utopía y anti-utopía en la narrativa breve de Antonio Espina, Rosa Chacel, Benjamín Jarnés y Francisco Ayala

    Para el arte modernista y de vanguardia, las visiones utópicas y anti-utópicas representan una manera de reacción en tiempos de crisis, al ofrecer unas imágenes divergentes del presente y de un futuro no muy lejano. En el presente artículo nos planteamos debatir el modo en que las ideas utópicas y anti-utópicas sobre la vida y el arte se reflejan en la narrativa breve de los más importantes escritores de la generación española de 1927,especialmente de los que empezaron su trayectoria literaria siguiendo la línea estética indicada por el filósofo José Ortega y Gasset. Se trata de Antonio Espina, Rosa Chacel, Francisco Ayala y Benjamín Jarnés. Se tomarán en consideración sus creenciasartísticas y se analizarán los aspectos formales y los constituyentes básicos de los mundos ficcionales que cada uno de ellos construye en sus relatos publicados entre 1926 y 1929. Se enfocarán conceptos como género híbrido, introspección líricaa través del mito y la metáfora, temas negativos, significado ambiguo que apunta hacia una perspectiva desengañada y distópica de la realidad.

    To modernist and avant-garde art the utopian as well as anti-utopian visions represent a manner of reacting to a time of crisis by offering divergent images of the present or of not so distant a future. In this article we choose to discuss the way in which utopian and anti-utopian ideas on life and art get reflected in the short narrative of some of the most important 1927 Spanish generation of prose writers, especially those who started their career following the aesthetic line traced by the philosopher José Ortega y Gasset. We are referring to Antonio Espina, Rosa Chacel, Francisco Ayala and Benjamín Jarnés. We will take into account their artistic believes and will approach the formal aspects and the basic constituents of the fictional worlds each one of them constructs in their shortstories published between 1926 and 1929. The main focus will deal with concepts like hybridgenre, lyrical introspection through myth and metaphor, negative themes, ambiguous significancethat points to a disillusioned, dystopian approach to reality.
