    Questa è la prima edizione critica del Liber particularis di Michele Scoto, trattato cosmologico latino che costituisce la seconda parte del Liber introductorius, redatto fra il 1220 e il 1235 circa. L’edizione è sulla base del ms. Bodl. Canon. Misc. 555 (collazionato con i mss Vaticano, BAV Rossi IX 11 e Milano, Ambrosiana L 92 Sup), il ché ha permesso di restituire un testo che circolò, in forma relativamente stabile, in Italia nella prima metà del XIV secolo. Nell’introduzione sono forniti i dati essenziali sui manoscritti del Liber particularis, sulla sua collocazione nell’opera di Michele Scoto e nel contesto intellettuale della corte di Federico II, con un primo tentativo per situarlo nello sviluppo dei saperi nell’Occidente nella prima metà del XIII secolo.

    This is the first critical edition of Michael Scot’s Liber particularis, a latin cosmological treatise, the second part of his Liber introductorius, 1220-1235 ca. The edition is based on ms. Bodl. Canon. Misc. 555 (collated with mss Vaticano, BAV Rossi IX 11 and Milano, Ambrosiana L 92 Sup), in order to give to the modern reader a version that had circulated in Italy, in a relatively fixed form, in the first half of the XIVth century. In the Introduction I give essential data on the mss of the Liber particularis, its place in the work of Michael Scot and in the intellectual context of the Frederick II’s court, and a preliminary attempt inscribing it in the progress of knowledge in the West in the first half of the XIIIth century.

    C’est la première édition critique du Liber particularis de Michel Scot, traité cosmologique latin qui constitue la deuxième partie de son Liber introductorius, rédigé entre 1220 et 1235 environ. L’édition est effectuée sur la base du ms. Bodl. Canon. Misc. 555 (collationné avec les mss Vatican, BAV Rossi IX 11 et Milan, Ambrosiana L 92 Sup), afin de restituer une version qui circula, sous une forme relativement stable, en Italie dans la première moitié du xiv e siècle. Dans l’introduction, on trouvera les données essentielles sur les manuscrits du Liber particularis, sur la place de ce traité dans l’œuvre de Michel Scot et dans le contexte intellectuel de la cour de Frédéric II, ainsi qu’un essai préliminaire visant à l’inscrire dans le développement des savoirs en Occident dans la première moitié du xiii e siècle.
