Resumen de Evaluación de la vulnerabilidad sísmica para la Ciudad de San Cristóbal

  La investigación tiene el objetivo de definir la vulnerabilidad sísmica en la ciudad de San Cristóbal, Cuba. El área de estudio está próxima al epicentro estimado para el terremoto del año 1880, considerado el más fuerte en Cuba Occidental. En el estudio, se emplearon algunos indicadores contenidos en la guía metodológica: "Determinación del peligro, vulnerabilidad y riesgo sísmico en escenarios físicos" del Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Sismológicas de Cuba. La cartografía resultante se editó sobre plataforma de sistema de información geográfica, permite la manipulación de información numérica y alfanumérica referente a aspectos tan diversos como el patrimonio construido, la población, las condiciones económicas locales y todas de influencia significativa en la gestión del riesgo sísmico. Dentro de los resultados más importantes, de acuerdo a su aplicación inmediata, se encuentran los mapas de vulnerabilidad estructural, social, económica y el mapa de vulnerabilidad sísmica total.

  The research has the objective to define the seismic vulnerability in San Cristobal city, Cuba. The area of study is near the epicenter of an earthquake occurring in 1880; which has been considered as the most powerful earthquake ever in the West of Cuba. In the research, there were used some indicators that are within the methodological guide: "Determination of the hazard, vulnerability and seismic risks in physical sceneries" of the National Centre of Seismic Researches of Cuba. The resulting cartography was edited on a platform of a geographic system of information that allows the manipulation of the numerical and alphanumerical information regarding to different aspects like the heritage built, the population, the local economic conditions and all of the have a great significance in the management of the seismic risks. Some of the most outstanding results, because of their immediate application, are the maps of the structural, social and economic vulnerability and the map of the total seismic vulnerability.
