Manejo del suelo para una producción sostenible

    Este trabajo consistió en aplicar un paquete de prácticas y tecnologías de Manejo Sostenible de Tierras (MST) con el fin de reducir la degradación de los suelos y aumentar su productividad; se enfatizó además en la ejecución de acciones de capacitación a productores y otro personal relacionado con la unidad productiva (CCS Carlos Hidalgo del municipio de Pinar del Río). Esta CCS se dedica fundamentalmente a la producción de tabaco y cultivos varios, aunque también tiene un área de pastos. Se identificaron como factores limitantes de la producción en el suelo; la acidez, baja fertilidad natural, poca profundidad efectiva y erosión, afectando más del 70 % del área en cada uno de los casos. Las acciones realizadas permitieron revertir la tendencia degradativa presente en la unidad, alcanzando el suelo una buena condición estructural en el 80 % del área de la finca elegida como sitio demostrativo. También se puedo observar una recuperación en indicadores químicos de la calidad del suelo como el pH, contenido de materia orgánica, capacidad de intercambio catiónico y las relaciones inter nutrientes. Estos beneficios propiciaron un significativo aumento en la productividad; al finalizar el proyecto se habían establecidos diez cultivos, los que en su mayoría habían superado su rendimiento potencial calculado en función de los factores limitantes del suelo e incluso el rendimiento obtenido en cada uno de estos cultivos en la provincia.

    This work consisted on applying a package of practical and technologies of Sustainable Manage of Lands with the purpose of to reduce the degradation of the soil and to increase its productivity; it was also emphasized in the execution of training actions to producers and another personnel related with the productive unit (CCS Carlos Hidalgo of the municipality of Pinar del Río). This CCS is devoted fundamentally to the production of tobacco and several cultivations, although he also has an area of grasses.

    They were identified as restrictive factors of the production in the soil; the acidity, low fertility natural, little effective deep and erosion, affecting more than 70% of the area in each one of the cases. The carried out actions allowed to revert the tendency present degrading in the unit, reaching the soil a good structural condition in 80% of the area of the elected property as demonstrative place. One can also observe a recovery in chemical indicators of the quality of the soil like the pH, content of organic matter, capacity of exchange catiónico and the relationships inter nutritious. These benefits propitiated a significant increase in the productivity; when concluding the project ten cultivations they had settled down, those that had overcome their potential yield calculated in function of the restrictive factors of the soil in their majority and even the yield obtained in each one of these cultivations in the province.
