    Segons la literatura, la varietat catalana de l’Alguer és fortament caracteritzada per la presència d’elements de l’italià (especialment en àmbit lèxic) i, sobretot, del sard. La parcial sardització de l’alguerès se deu principalment al contacte adstràtic d’aquesta varietat amb el sard, però també al fet que el sard és històricament la L1 de la majoria dels immigrats en la ciutat, immigrats que al llarg dels segles han esdevingut el grup ètnicament més important de l’Alguer, i que han conservat, al mateix temps modificant-la, la koinè catalana allà parlada. L’objectiu del present treball és d’avaluar en manera instrumental la influència del sard sobre la qualitat de les vocals tòniques de l’alguerès, a través d’una comparació entre els segments vocàlics d’aquesta darrera varietat i els corresponents en altres varietats catalanes i sardes. Com a resultat, les dades formàntiques obtengudes indiquen que les vocals tòniques alguereses s’assemblen fonèticament més a les sardes que no a les de les altres varietats catalanes, suggerint que els immigrats sards en la ciutat han aprés històricament el català de l’Alguer adaptant la qualitat vocàlica de la L2 segons els patrons acústics de la pròpia L1.

    According to the literature, the Catalan variety spoken in Alghero is heavilyaffected by the influence of Italian (especially in the lexical field), and even more of Sardinian. The partial sardisation of Algherese is mainly attributable to the adstratum contacts of the latter with Sardinian, but also to the fact that Sardinian was the L1 of the majority of immigrants to the city of Alghero. Over the centuries, the Sardinian speaking immigrants became the most important ethnic group in Alghero; they contributed to maintain the Catalan koinè spoken in the town and, at the same time, they modified it. The main goal of the present work is to instrumentally evaluate the influence of Sardinian on the quality of the stressed Algherese vowels by means of a comparison of the vowel segments of the latter variety with the correspondent segments in other Catalan and Sardinian varieties. As a result, the obtained formant data indicate that Algherese vowels resemble acoustically more to those of Sardinian than to those of Catalan, suggesting that Sardinian immigrants to the city learned, over the past centuries, the Algherese Catalan adapting the vowel quality of this L2 to the acoustic patterns of their own L1.
